The ‘faces’ of the channels provide additional surfaces to push against, and by eliminating the bottom curve, they create a straight-line drive. In addition to regaining thrust and directional force, the channels create a kick in the tail rocker, which, combined with the bite- allows the board to stay deep in the wave face while making radical turns in critical sections on the wave. Simply put, the channels are the ones that really set the thrust in motion. Channels on a board are really susceptible to chop on the water, so you would want to take this board out on big glassy hollow days to make it shine.
